In short: our apps show no advertising, never sell your information, and collect as little as possible. Most of our apps work without any account at all.
Who we are
The Spanish Fluency Centre ("we", "us") is a Spanish language education business based in Nassau, New Providence, The Bahamas. This policy covers this website, our class registration forms, and our learning apps, including YCTAS! (Commands, Countries and Amigos) and SUVE, whether used on the web or through Google Play.
Information we do not collect
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not ask for or collect your location.
- We do not sell, rent or trade any information about you.
Information our apps use
- Progress saved on your device. Your learning progress (for example, which words you have mastered) is stored on your own device so you can pick up where you left off. It stays on your device unless you choose to create an account where one is offered.
- Anonymous visit counts. We use GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly counter, to see how many visits our apps and website receive. It does not use cookies and does not identify individual people.
- Optional accounts. Some of our web apps offer an optional account so progress can be saved across devices, and SUVE uses an account for premium access. If you create one, we store your email address and your learning progress; some apps also let you add an optional display name and choose whether to receive news from us (off unless you tick it). Passwords are handled securely by our sign-in provider; we never see them. Accounts should be created by a parent or guardian for children under 13.
- Purchases. Purchases made through Google Play are handled entirely by Google. We never receive your card or payment details; we only receive confirmation that a purchase was made so the right content can be unlocked.
- Messages you send us. If you email us or use a contact form, we receive your name, email address and message so we can reply.
Class sign-up and registration forms
When you save a seat at an intro session or register for a course on this website, we receive the details you enter. Depending on the course, this can include:
- the parent's or student's name, email address and phone numbers
- the student's name, date of birth and school
- your island, prior Spanish experience and how you heard about us
- the commitments you tick on the form
We use this information only to run our classes: to contact you, arrange enrolment and payment, place students in the right group, and organise our reading programme. A student's name, school and island may appear on the SEPFY reading leaderboard, which is shared with enrolled families only. We never sell or share these details for advertising.
Children
Our apps and classes are designed for learners of all ages, including children. Class registration for children is completed by a parent or guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what is described above. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Services that help us run our apps and website
We use trusted providers to host and operate our website and apps, and they process information only to provide their service to us:
- Netlify (website hosting and delivery of our sign-up and registration forms)
- GitHub Pages (app hosting)
- Google Firebase (optional sign-in and saved progress)
- Base44 (SUVE app and accounts)
- Formspree (contact form delivery)
- GoatCounter (anonymous visit counts)
- Google Play (app distribution and purchases)
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep account information only while your account is active, and registration details only for as long as we need them to run your course and keep proper records. You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your information, or to close your account, by emailing info@thespanishfluencycentre.com. Progress saved only on your device can be removed by clearing the app's data or uninstalling it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
